Our Philosophy
One of the unique features of Silver Oak Advisory Group is its ability to blend a technical expertise in the two disciplines of financial advising and investment policy. Research has found that both disciplines are necessary if people are to make sound financial decisions.
Silver Oak's investment philosophy is grounded in asset allocation and includes these principles:
- Each client deserves an individually tailored portfolio that considers their objectives, circumstances, risk tolerance, preferences and other personal factors;
- Education on fundamental principles of investment decision-making and ongoing coaching on financial matters is critical and will be offered to each client;
- Reduction of investment risk will be pursued through efficiently designing portfolios that are broadly diversified across asset groups;
- The use of institutional quality index or asset class mutual funds for your portfolio. These funds are designed and managed with a long term "buy and hold" philosophy and do not allow excessive trading by shareholders.
- Attention must also be paid to factors such as trading costs, mutual fund management fees, timing of tax liabilities, retirement plan distribution strategies, and maintaining the portfolio design over time.
